Why piece-rate records are worth keeping

Job-work disputes almost always come down to two numbers nobody wrote down: how many pieces were given, and at what rate. Once both are recorded at the moment of issue, the weekly settlement takes minutes and stops being an argument. Advances are the other recurring problem — they are given quickly, remembered vaguely, and deducted painfully. A running balance per karigar removes the guesswork and, more importantly, removes the suspicion on both sides.

Knowing which stage each order is at is the difference between promising a delivery date and hoping for one. When a buyer asks, the answer is on the screen.
