Go / No-Go Impulse Test

DontTapV assigns a different action to each colour, then rewrites the rules every few rounds. One colour always means do nothing at all, and holding still turns out to be much harder than tapping.

How to play DontTapV

  1. Read the table at the top. It tells you what each colour means right now.
  2. A colour fills the pad. Do what the table says for that colour before the window closes.
  3. One colour always means do not touch. For that one, doing nothing is the correct answer.
  4. Every few rounds the table is rewritten. Green may mean tap now and mean nothing later.
  5. Three mistakes end the run.

How scoring works

Each correct response scores, and the response window shortens as you progress, so later rounds are worth more but allow less time. A wrong action and a missed action both count as mistakes, and three mistakes end the run — including three failures to hold still on the no-go colour, which is where most runs actually end.

Common questions

What is a go/no-go task?

A standard format where most cues require a response and a minority require you to withhold one. Withholding is the harder half, because a response that is already prepared has to be stopped.

How often do the rules change?

Every few rounds, without warning. The table at the top is always current, so it is the only thing worth trusting.

Does not tapping ever count as a mistake?

Yes — on any colour that requires an action. On the no-go colour, not tapping is exactly right.
