Privacy Policy
How ContactFixV handles your contacts. Last updated 20 August 2026.
Who we are
ContactFixV is a free web app published by Apps by V at appsbyv.in. It finds and merges duplicate contacts in a vCard (.vcf) file.
Your contacts
When you choose a VCF file, your browser reads it from your device and hands the text to the page. Everything after that — parsing, duplicate detection, merging, cleaning and building the export — happens inside your browser.
Specifically, the following are never transmitted to Apps by V or to anyone else:
- contact names and nicknames
- phone numbers
- email addresses
- postal addresses
- birthdays
- contact photos
- notes and organisations
- the VCF file itself, in whole or in part
There is no upload endpoint, no API call and no analytics event carrying contact data, because there is no server component to this app at all.
What is stored on your device
During normal use your contacts are held in the page's memory only. They are not written to local storage, session storage, IndexedDB or a cookie. This is deliberate, and it has a visible consequence: refreshing or closing the tab clears your contacts completely and you start again from the file. The app warns you before you navigate away with unsaved changes.
The only thing ContactFixV ever saves is your light / dark theme preference, stored under the key contactfixv_theme. It contains the single word light, dark or system.
A service worker caches the app's own program files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, icons and the two vendored libraries) so the tool works offline. It never caches, and never sees, your contact data.
Your original file
ContactFixV cannot modify the file you selected. Browsers give a web page read-only access to a chosen file, so your original stays exactly as it was on disk. When you export, a new file is written to your downloads.
Advertising and cookies
ContactFixV shows advertisements through Google AdSense to cover hosting costs. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and may collect data such as your IP address and browsing activity for that purpose. Google's use of advertising cookies is described in Google's advertising policy.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
To be explicit about the boundary: no part of your contact data is shared with advertisers, because it never leaves your device in the first place. The advertising system sees only what it would see on any web page — that a browser loaded this page.
Fonts
The page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which involves a request to Google's servers carrying your IP address. No other third-party service is contacted.
Error reports
If a file cannot be read, the message shown to you describes the problem only. Contact data is never included in an error message, and error details are not sent anywhere.
Children
ContactFixV is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction, export and erasure normally apply to data a company holds about you. We hold none: there is no account, no profile and no record of your visit beyond ordinary web server logs and the advertising described above. The contact data ContactFixV works with lives on your device and is entirely under your control.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
