      Galla — the day's cash book, closed before you pull the shutter

      Galla is a daily cash book — a rokad bahi — for Indian shops. Every rupee that comes into the galla and every rupee that goes out is entered as it happens, with the payment mode and a category, so that at closing time you know what the drawer should hold and can check it against what it actually holds. It runs in the browser with no sign-up, keeps everything on your own device, and works when the shop's internet does not.

      How a day runs

      1. Set the opening cash

        Enter what is in the drawer when you open. Everything the day adds up to is measured from that figure, so it is worth getting right once.

      2. Record cash in and cash out as it happens

        Each entry takes a moment: amount, whether it is money in or money out, the mode — cash, UPI or card — and a category so the month makes sense later. Entering as you go is the whole trick; reconstructing a day from memory at 9pm is where shops lose money.

      3. Count the drawer and close

        The note and coin counter walks down the denominations, from ₹2000 to ₹1, and totals them for you. Compare that against what the book expects and you know immediately whether the day is short — while the staff who handled it are still there.

      Download the whole shop as a backup file and restore it later. Since nothing is stored on a server, that file is your safety net — keep one.

      Questions people ask

      Is this an accounting or GST package?

      No, and it is not trying to be. Galla is the cash book that sits under the accounting — the daily record of what came in and what went out. It does not file returns, compute GST or maintain ledgers for suppliers. What it does is give your accountant a clean, dated, categorised record instead of a diary and a bag of slips.

      Where is the data kept, and can staff see it?

      Everything stays in this browser on this device. Nobody at our end can see your takings, and there is no account for anyone to log into from elsewhere. The flip side is that whoever can unlock this phone can open the book, so if counter staff use the same device, use the phone's own lock.

      What happens if I lose the phone?

      The book goes with it. There is no cloud copy to restore from — that is the direct cost of nothing being uploaded. Download a backup regularly and keep it somewhere else; treat it exactly as seriously as you would a physical rokad bahi.

      Can I record UPI and card sales, not just cash?

      Yes. Each entry carries its mode, and the monthly report splits collections by mode. That matters at closing: UPI money is real income but it is not in the drawer, and mixing the two is the usual reason a count seems short.

      Does it work without internet?

      Yes, after the first load. Entries, counting and reports all run on the device. You can add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.
