Patra (पत्र — a letter) is a free, ready-to-use library of letter, application and business document templates for everyday Indian needs. Choose a template, type your details into a few simple fields, watch the finished document build itself in a live preview, and download a clean A4 PDF — or print it directly. There is no sign-up and no cost.
Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your "Your details" profile (name, organisation, address, phone, email) is saved on your own device and used to fill the letterhead of every template, so you only type it once. Your drafts are auto-saved locally too. Nothing you enter is ever uploaded to any server.

How to download your document as a PDF
- Open any template and fill in the fields. The preview updates as you type.
- Tap Download PDF. A clean print page opens and your browser's print dialog appears.
- Choose "Save as PDF" as the destination and save. On a phone you can also choose your printer.

Is Patra really free?
Yes. Every template is completely free to use and download, with no account and no watermark. Patra is supported by a small ad on the page.
Is my information private?
Yes. Patra runs entirely in your browser. Your saved details and drafts are stored only on your device using local storage, and nothing is ever sent to a server. The ad does not have access to anything you type.
How do I get a PDF?
Click "Download PDF" on any template. A clean A4 print page opens and the browser print dialog lets you choose "Save as PDF". You can also just print the document.
Will Hindi names and text appear correctly?
Yes. The document uses your device's fonts and is Unicode-safe, so Hindi or other Indian-language names and details render correctly in the preview and the PDF.
Can I edit a template's wording?
Absolutely. Every body field comes with sensible default wording you can keep or rewrite to suit your situation.
Are these documents legally valid?
The formats follow common, accepted conventions for India, but Patra does not provide legal advice. For agreements, affidavits or anything with legal weight, please have it reviewed by a qualified professional and use the correct stamp paper / notarisation where required.
