Dil Ki Baat exists so people can say things they cannot say anywhere else. That only works if what you write stays yours. This page explains exactly what happens to it.

Where your chats are kept

Your conversation, your profile choices (age group, gender, the mate you picked and their name) and your optional PIN are saved in your browser's local storage, on your own device. There is no account, no login and no copy of your chats anywhere else. If you clear your browser data, uninstall the app or change phones, your chats are gone, and nobody, including us, can bring them back.

What is sent when you write a message

To write a reply, your message, your recent conversation (up to the last 20 messages) and your profile choices are sent over an encrypted connection to our server at appsbyv.in. The server passes them to Google's Gemini AI model, receives the reply and sends it back to you. Our server does not save, log or read the content of any message.

Google processes the request to generate the reply under its paid Gemini API terms, which state that this content is not used to train its models. Google may keep requests for a limited time to detect abuse, as described in its own terms.

The only thing our server counts

To keep the service free, everyone gets 30 messages a day. To enforce that, the server keeps a daily counter linked to a random ID created by your browser and a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address. These counters contain no message text, cannot be turned back into your address, and are deleted automatically after three days.

The PIN lock

The PIN stops someone who picks up your phone from casually opening your chats. It is stored only as a one-way hash on your device. It is a privacy screen, not strong encryption: someone with technical skills and full access to your unlocked device could still read browser storage.

Advertising

The public website shows ads served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show and measure ads. Ads never receive your messages. You can manage ad personalisation at Google's ad settings.

Safety

If a message suggests someone may be in immediate danger, the app shows India's free helplines (Tele-MANAS 14416, Tele-MANAS toll-free 1-800-891-4416, emergency 112). This check runs on your device and on the server only to shape the reply. Nothing is reported to anyone.

Age

Dil Ki Baat is meant for people aged 18 and over.
